Frequently asked questions

What does Nvidium actually do?
Nvidium replaces Sodium's terrain rendering with a custom OpenGL implementation that only works on Nvidia GPUs. It offloads chunk rendering to your GPU more efficiently, which raises FPS mainly on newer Nvidia cards.
How do I know if Nvidium is running?
Open the Sodium video settings screen and look for Nvidium's own options section, or check the F3 debug screen for Nvidium-related render info. If your GPU isn't supported, the mod silently disables itself and you'll see no Nvidium entries.
Why did Nvidium disable itself?
It turns off automatically if you don't have a supported Nvidia GPU, or if you're using Iris with shaders enabled. Remove the shader pack or switch to a non-Nvidia GPU and it stays off by design.
Does Nvidium work with shaders?
No. Nvidium and shaders are mutually exclusive because shaders need Iris, and Iris forces Nvidium to disable itself. You have to pick one or the other.
