How do I start mapping my world with JourneyMap?

Just play normally — JourneyMap begins drawing the map automatically as you explore, filling in chunks around you. Open the full-screen map with the default keybind (J) to see what's been recorded so far.

Why is my map blank or black in some areas?

JourneyMap only maps terrain you've actually visited or that's within your loaded view distance, so unexplored regions stay dark until you travel there. If a previously mapped area turns black, your map data may have been reset or the world/dimension changed.

How do I change the minimap key or open the full map?

Open the JourneyMap options menu from the minimap or the mod list, then go to the key bindings section to rebind the full-screen map, waypoint, and minimap toggle keys. You can also change these in Minecraft's standard Controls menu under the JourneyMap category.

How do I make a waypoint and teleport to it?

Press the waypoint key (default B) or use the full-screen map to create a waypoint at your current position or a clicked location, then name it and pick a color/icon. Teleporting to a waypoint only works if cheats or the appropriate permissions are enabled, since JourneyMap doesn't grant teleport by itself.
