How to Check If Nvidium Is Actually Running on Your GPU

Nvidium only activates on supported Nvidia hardware, and it silently disables itself in several situations. Before you assume it is working, confirm it is actually engaged.

Check the Video Settings Screen

Open the in-game video settings. Nvidium integrates with the Sodium settings interface, so look for an Nvidium section or toggle there. If the mod is active, you will see its own options rather than only the standard Sodium rendering controls. If the section is missing or greyed out, Nvidium has deactivated itself.

Understand Why It Might Be Off

There are a few common reasons Nvidium turns itself off:

  • Your GPU is not an Nvidia card, or it is older than the supported generations. The mod checks the hardware and disables itself automatically.
  • You have Iris installed and a shader pack applied. Nvidium and shaders cannot run together, so applying shaders disables Nvidium.
  • The game is running on an integrated GPU instead of your dedicated Nvidia card. On laptops this happens often, so make sure Minecraft is assigned to the Nvidia GPU in your system's graphics settings.

If everything looks correct and Nvidium still is not active, remove any shader pack, restart the game, and recheck the settings screen. Once active, you should notice a large FPS increase, especially when looking across wide terrain.
