About this mod

Magicians are widely known as powerful wielders of magic.
In truth, however, they rely on summoned spirit slaves, known as demons, who perform magic on their behalf.
This mod is inspired by the world of Jonathan Stroud's Bartimaeus. If you haven't read the books, do that now!
With the help of occult rituals you will summon spirits, also known as demons, from "The Other Place" to aid you in your adventures.
Contents
A ritual magic system centered around summonable spirits allows you to automate various tasks, store vast amounts of items, let demons mine in void dimensions, create powerful enchanted tools and jewelry, get support from familiars, and much much more.
Begin your journey by crafting the Dictionary of Spirits, and following that in-game guide, discover the secrets of the spirit world,
find otherworld groves hidden in plain sight by gaining the "Third Eye", and finally summon your first spirit.
See Screenshots for some impressions.

First Steps
1. Break grass until you drop Demon's Dream Seeds, much like you would obtain vanilla wheat seeds.
2. Craft the seeds with a book to obtain the Dictionary of Spirits
3. Follow the instructions in the dictionary.

How do you summon spirits in Occultism?
Perform a ritual: draw a pentacle, place a golden ritual bowl at its center with sacrificial bowls around it, add the required ingredients, then right-click the golden bowl with the activation item. Some rituals also need a sacrifice near the center.
What are the spirit ranks in Occultism?
Four major ranks in ascending power: Foliot (labor and minor tasks), Djinni (the common, versatile class), Afrit (major artifacts and possession) and Marid (the strongest and most dangerous to summon).
What is the difference between bound and unbound summoning?
Spirits are normally summoned bound, keeping them under control. Unbound summoning is far more dangerous but is the only way to access a spirit's essence or full power — for instance, to obtain Afrit Essence for high-end crafting.
What is a True Name in Occultism?
A spirit's True Name is called during the summoning ritual to bring it under control. Only the spirit's tier matters, not which name of that tier you use, and the in-game book lists known names for all four ranks.
How do you automate mining in Occultism?
Summon and bind spirits that mine in void dimensions on your behalf, gathering resources without you digging. Higher-rank spirits handle more, making dimensional mining a key automation payoff.
What do possession rituals do?
A possession ritual has a spirit inhabit a creature, changing its behavior and drops — a Possessed Bee attacks faster and always poisons, while a Wild Horde Husk drops desert-trial loot like pottery sherds and smithing templates.
