About this mod
IMPORTANT: version 2.0.0s is in active development and the FIRST ALPHA has been released on Modrinth. If you think the dimension is currently lacking in content, or just want to give feedback on the next update, please join our Discord server: https://discord.com/invite/GDNRd5yvxa. The new update branch (Spruce), planned initially for Fabric 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, will add actual progression to the dimension and expand the amount of biomes and entities.
About
Deeper and Darker is a mod that aims to enhance the Deep Dark in Minecraft. It adds many new features related to the Deep Dark and a new dimension called the Otherside.
Content
Deeper and Darker adds an entire new dimension — the Otherside — with much content to explore. Here's a list with some of the features!
- Biomes: explore the deeplands, echoing forest, overcast columns, and blooming caverns.
- Structure: find an ancient temple, the home of the warden! Just be cautious when breaking the ancient vases to avoid awakening an ancient lurker.
- Blocks: over a hundred new blocks to build, including gloomslate, sculk stone, and a new wood type!
- Items: a brand-new warden set of armor and tools, an upgrade to elytra and the awesome sculk transmitter!
- Mobs: 8 new mobs, including a miniboss!
To enter the Otherside, kill the warden and use its heart. Play the mod to find more content and explore hidden mysteries!

How do you get to the Otherside in Deeper and Darker?
The Otherside is reached with the Ancient Compass, crafted from four Warden Carapace and a Compass. The carapace comes from the Deep Dark's Warden, tying the trip to that encounter.
How do you make Warden gear?
Warden tools and armor are the top tier, upgraded from netherite equipment with a Reinforced Echo Shard and a smithing template. The mid tier, Resonarium gear, upgrades diamond equipment with a Resonarium Plate.
What ores are in the Otherside?
The Otherside's stones, Gloomslate and Sculk Stone, carry their own ore variants that smelt normally. If Create is installed, its crushing wheels double the yield — a diamond ore crushes into three Diamond.
Does Deeper and Darker work with other mods?
Yes. Create's crushing wheels process the Otherside ores at doubled yield, and Farmer's Delight's cutting board reworks many of the mod's wood items, so the dimension slots into an existing modded base.
What wood does Deeper and Darker add?
It adds bloom and echo woods. Bloom Planks come from a Blooming Stem (one stem to four planks) and extend into a full building set of slabs, stairs, fences, doors, signs and boats.
What is the Otherside?
The Otherside is a whole new dimension the mod adds to expand the Deep Dark, full of sculk-themed blocks, ores and content to explore beyond the vanilla Deep Dark.
