Frequently asked questions

How do I place a lantern on a wall?
Hold a lantern and right-click on the side face of any solid block. The lantern will attach with a mounting bracket instead of floating, and you can rotate it by right-clicking again before placing.
Do wall lanterns give off light like normal lanterns?
Yes, wall-mounted lanterns emit the same amount of light as lanterns placed on the ground or hanging from chains, so they work just as well for lighting your builds.
Can I place lanterns on any block?
Lanterns can attach to the side of any solid block, but they won't attach to transparent blocks like glass or leaves, or to blocks that are already occupied by other attachments.
What's the difference between wall lanterns and hanging lanterns?
Wall lanterns use a mounting bracket and attach flat to the side of a block, while hanging lanterns dangle from chains or ceilings; both provide light but create different visual effects.
