Why Your Lantern Won't Attach

If a lantern refuses to place on a wall, check these common issues.

Common Problems

Lantern won't attach to the surface

• Verify the block is solid and full-sized (not a slab, stair, or transparent block)
• Try a different block type to confirm the surface works
• Ensure you're clicking on the side face, not the top or bottom

Bracket doesn't appear or looks wrong

• This is not a placement issue—brackets always generate when wall-mounting succeeds
• If no bracket appears, the lantern didn't actually place; try again

Lantern placed but seems floating

• Wall lanterns intentionally project outward with a bracket—this is the intended design
• The bracket connects the lantern to the wall; it's not floating

Solutions

1. Try placing on a different block material

2. Ensure adequate space in front of the wall (lanterns need clearance to project outward)

3. Check that you're using an actual lantern item, not a different block

4. Move to a different wall section and attempt placement again
