Frequently asked questions
How do I get started with Build Craft?
Start with the basics: a wrench, some transport pipes, and an engine. Build a simple power chain first (engine feeding a kinesis pipe) before attempting a quarry or oil setup. Most of the mod's machines are useless without power, so that comes first.
My quarry isn't doing anything. Why?
The usual causes are no power reaching it, an area that isn't defined properly, or no space or inventory to output into. Check that your engine is running and connected by kinesis pipes. Then make sure the quarry's area is set as the guide describes and nothing is blocking the frame.
How do I mark the area for a quarry?
Use the markers to outline the region you want dug, following the placement steps in the quarry guide. Once the quarry is placed and powered, it builds a frame around the area and starts mining inside it. Clear the area of obstructions first, and place the quarry so it faces the right direction.
Why is my engine not producing power or stopping?
Engines need a fuel source or redstone signal, depending on the type, and they need a valid receiver such as a kinesis pipe or machine next to their output face. If the engine has nowhere to send energy, it can overheat and stop. Use a wrench to rotate the engine so it faces the pipe or machine.
