Find and pump oil to make fuel

Oil spawns in the world as lakes and small spouts. Pumping it out gives you fluid you can turn into fuel for your engines.

Find and pump the oil

1. Explore for dark, thick liquid pools. They are usually on the surface, and some have a column of oil rising from them.

2. Place a pump on solid ground next to or above the oil. Don't place it in the liquid.

3. Give the pump power with an engine or kinesis pipe. When powered, it extends a tube down into the oil and starts draining it.

4. Attach a fluid pipe to the pump and run it to a tank. Fluids won't move through item pipes, so use fluid pipes only.

Turn oil into fuel

1. Place a refinery and power it.

2. Pipe the oil into the refinery.

3. Set the refinery to output fuel, and pipe the fuel into a tank.

4. Feed that fuel to a combustion engine with fluid pipes.

Safety tips

  • Oil is flammable. Keep fire, lava, and flint and steel away from it.
  • Wall off the area so mobs don't wander into your setup.
  • If the pump stops, check that it has power and that its pipe output isn't blocked by a full tank.
