Frequently asked questions

Why don't I see any rivers in my world?
Rivers only generate in newly created worlds—they won't appear in existing saves. Create a new world and check your game log for river coordinates, or explore along coastlines where rivers often flow into the ocean.
How do I use the coordinates from the log to get to a river?
If you're in Creative mode, you can copy the coordinates directly from the log entry and paste them as a `/tp` command (for example: `/tp -24 67 -161`). For Survival mode, you'll need to navigate there manually or switch to Creative to teleport.
Can I use this mod with my existing world?
No, the mod only generates rivers in brand new worlds. Using it on an existing world would create disconnected river pieces, and the world would become dependent on the mod to load properly.
Do the mod rivers connect to regular Minecraft rivers?
Yes, the flowing rivers often terminate into the vanilla static rivers that still exist in the world. The two river systems work alongside each other.
What happens if I dig or modify the river blocks?
You can alter the riverbanks and shorelines by digging, which changes how the water flows. However, you cannot create entirely new rivers since the special flowing water blocks aren't available to players.
Can I boat down these rivers?
Yes, you can travel down the rivers in a boat and let the current carry you downstream. Be prepared for waterfalls and rapids that may appear along the way.
Will I always get a river when I create a new world?
Not guaranteed—river generation depends on the terrain generator, so you may only find one about 25-50% of the time on initial load. If you don't get one, try creating another world.
Do rivers carve out the landscape or is it pre-generated?
The rivers are generated as part of world creation and carve out canyons and rapids in the terrain as they flow downhill. This landscape shaping happens during world generation, not dynamically afterward.
How do I enable the launcher log so I can see river coordinates?
Open your Forge launcher profile, click "Edit Profile", and change "Launcher visibility" to "Keep the launcher open". Then when you generate a world, the launcher will stay open and display river coordinates in the log.
What's the difference between these rivers and normal Minecraft water?
These rivers use special water blocks that don't decay or disappear, have a visible current that carries boats, and are generated to flow naturally downhill and merge together. Normal Minecraft water spreads infinitely and has no current.
