The Streams Mod generates rivers that carve through terrain over time, creating deep canyons with steep walls. These form naturally where flowing water has cut through multiple terrain layers, revealing the landscape's geological history.

Finding Notable Canyons

Walk downstream along any river for extended distances. The longer a river flows, the deeper its canyon becomes. Rivers that flow through varied terrain—especially areas with different stone types—create the most visually impressive canyons with layered walls.

Observing the Landscape

Climb to high ground near the river to see the full canyon structure. Notice how the water has carved a V-shaped or U-shaped valley depending on the terrain. Look at the exposed stone layers in the canyon walls to understand the world's geology.

Building in Canyons

Canyons provide natural defensive positions and dramatic building sites. You can construct bridges across the river, build structures into canyon walls, or create watchtowers on the rim. The steep terrain offers protection and unique architectural opportunities.
