Trace a River to the Ocean

Starting Your Journey

Begin at a river's source on high ground. You can find source coordinates in your game log, or locate them by exploring uphill from known river sections. The source will be where water first begins flowing.

Following Downstream

Walk or boat downstream, following the water's natural flow. The river will merge with other streams as it descends, growing wider and deeper. Pay attention to the direction the current flows—it always moves toward lower elevation.

Tracking Confluences

Note where smaller streams join the main river. These confluences are marked by visible water merging and often create interesting terrain features. The combined flow becomes stronger and carves deeper canyons.

Reaching the Ocean

Continue following the river until it terminates in the ocean or a large body of water. Most generated rivers eventually flow into vanilla sea-level water. This endpoint shows how the mod integrates with standard Minecraft water generation. The journey from source to sea demonstrates the complete water cycle the mod creates.
