They're spread out randomly, so you may need to travel some distance to find your first one.
What's the best way to clear a tower as a beginner?
Start with basic armor and weapons, then work your way up from the bottom floor to avoid being trapped. Watch out for spawners on upper levels—you can disable them by placing torches or slabs to prevent mobs from appearing. Bring food and healing items, and don't rush; take time to clear each floor before moving up.
Do towers respawn loot if I come back later?
