How do I turn on the lantern for the first time?
The lantern activates automatically when you enter a dark area, or you can press the keybind (default is a configurable key) to toggle it manually. If it's not turning on in dark caves, check your Auto-light Threshold setting in the configuration menu.
Can I use the lantern while holding a weapon or tool?
Yes, the lantern hangs on your body independently of what you're holding, so you can fight mobs or mine blocks without the lantern interfering. You only need to manage your actual inventory items—the lantern doesn't take up any space.
Why does the lantern turn off when I go swimming?
The mod automatically extinguishes the lantern when you enter water to prevent it from looking unnatural underwater. The light will turn back on once you exit the water and return to dark areas.
Does the lantern work in the Nether?
Yes, the lantern works in all dimensions, though the Nether's natural light may prevent auto-light from triggering depending on your threshold setting. You can always toggle it on manually if needed.
