Open your starting chest to find ice and lava, then build a cobblestone generator by placing lava above ice in a small pit. This gives you an infinite block source to build bridges and expand safely without wasting your limited dirt.

Punch the trees on your starting island carefully while standing on solid ground, and immediately pick up the wood blocks before they roll away. Consider building a small platform or fence around trees to prevent logs from sliding into the void.

Saplings can fall through gaps or roll off edges when they drop from leaves. Plant them in a contained area with walls or fences around it, or collect them into your inventory before planting to avoid losing them to the sky.

Use slabs instead of full blocks when possible—they're cheaper and still let you walk safely. Build in a straight line toward your target island and test each section before committing more materials, so you don't waste resources on a bridge that doesn't reach.
