How to Add Modifiers and Upgrades to Silent Gear
Understand Upgrade Bases
Modifiers in Silent Gear are applied through Upgrade Bases and Advanced Upgrade Bases. A basic upgrade base holds a single modifier; the advanced version can hold more or accept stronger modifiers. Craft the base, then combine it with the modifier item you want (for example, a redstone-based item for a speed modifier, or a specific gem for a trait boost) to produce a finished upgrade.
Apply the Upgrade
With the finished upgrade in hand, combine it with your tool at the Gear Smithing Table or in a crafting grid, depending on the modifier. The tooltip will list the applied modifiers. Some modifiers stack, some do not, and some conflict — the game will refuse combinations that overlap. Read the tooltip carefully before committing, because removing a modifier usually requires salvaging the tool.
Plan Your Build
Because modifiers are limited by the number of upgrade slots your tool has, decide early whether you want a mining-focused tool (speed, fortune-style bonuses) or a combat tool (damage, sweeping). Materials with the right innate traits plus a couple of well-chosen modifiers will outperform a tool stuffed with mismatched upgrades. Keep a spare upgrade base on hand so you can test a modifier before locking it into your main tool.
