Item Descriptions Mod adds helpful descriptions to every block, item, and entity in the game. When you press the Ctrl key while hovering over an item, a short, clear description will pop up, telling you what the item is for, where it comes from, or other useful information.

`add_to_recipe_viewers`Add to Recipe Viewers	Add Item Descriptions Info Recipes when using Reliable Recipe Viewer
`show_always`Always show Block Descriptions	By default, descriptions are only shown when a keybind is pressed. This is intended, but can be changed so that they are always visible.
`display_always`Always show Effect Descriptions	By default, descriptions are only shown when a keybind is pressed. This is intended, but can be changed so that they are always visible.
`display_always`Always show Enchantment Descriptions	By default, descriptions are only shown when a keybind is pressed. This is intended, but can be changed so that they are always visible.

`block_descriptions`	Display Block Descriptions
`entity_descriptions`	Display Entity Descriptions
`colour`Effect Descriptions Color	This setting changes what Minecraft colour is used for effect tooltips, either by colour code or name.
`effect_descriptions_title`	Effects
`enable`Enable Block Descriptions	This will show Block Descriptions in compatible mods. (Jade, WAILA, Useful Spyglass, etc.)
`enable`Enable Effect Descriptions	This will show Effect Descriptions. This is also disabled when other mods that add this feature are present.

Frequently asked questions

How do I view an item description?

Hover your cursor over any item, block, or entity in your inventory or in the world and hold the Ctrl key. A tooltip with the description will appear alongside the normal item info.

Which key opens the description tooltip?

The default key is Ctrl. Hold it while hovering over an item to reveal its description; release it to hide the tooltip again.

Can I change the description key to something else?

Yes. The keybind is configurable in the mod's controls settings, so you can rebind it if Ctrl conflicts with another mod or your keyboard layout.

Descriptions are not showing up when I press ctrl

Check that the keybind hasn't been changed or taken by another mod, and make sure you're hovering directly over the item. If it still fails, verify the mod is actually loaded for that world and check for conflicting tooltip mods.
