Frequently asked questions

How do I know if a resource pack actually needs Animatica?
Open the pack and look for a folder or files referencing custom animation formats like .properties files or animated texture metadata that vanilla Minecraft doesn't read. If the pack's description mentions OptiFine, MCPatcher, or CTM/animated textures, it likely needs Animatica to animate properly.
Do I need OptiFine installed for Animatica to work?
No. Animatica exists specifically so you can use OptiFine-style animated texture packs without OptiFine, and it works alongside Fabric or other loaders that support it. Installing both isn't required and can cause conflicts.
Which textures can Animatica actually animate?
It handles animated GUI textures, entity textures, block entity textures, armor textures, and other custom animated textures. Animated blocks and items are already a vanilla feature, so those work without Animatica.
Why do my animated textures show the first frame but never move?
This usually means the pack's animation metadata isn't being read, often because the pack is loaded below another pack overriding the same files or the animation format isn't supported. Move the pack to the top of your resource pack list and reload.
