Animatica Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I know if a resource pack actually needs Animatica?
Open the pack and look for a folder or files referencing custom animation formats like .properties files or animated texture metadata that vanilla Minecraft doesn't read. If the pack's description mentions OptiFine, MCPatcher, or CTM/animated textures, it likely needs Animatica to animate properly.
Do I need OptiFine installed for Animatica to work?
No. Animatica exists specifically so you can use OptiFine-style animated texture packs without OptiFine, and it works alongside Fabric or other loaders that support it. Installing both isn't required and can cause conflicts.
Which textures can Animatica actually animate?
It handles animated GUI textures, entity textures, block entity textures, armor textures, and other custom animated textures. Animated blocks and items are already a vanilla feature, so those work without Animatica.
Why do my animated textures show the first frame but never move?
This usually means the pack's animation metadata isn't being read, often because the pack is loaded below another pack overriding the same files or the animation format isn't supported. Move the pack to the top of your resource pack list and reload.
Do I need to enable anything in the mod's config to turn animations on?
Animatica generally works once installed and a compatible pack is active, but check the mod's config screen for any animation toggles that may be disabled. If a config option exists, make sure it isn't turned off.
My animated GUI textures aren't moving — what should I check first?
Confirm the pack is actually selected and applied, then check whether another pack is overriding the same GUI files. Also verify the pack was built for the animation format Animatica supports rather than a different custom format.
Can Animatica and OptiFine be used together?
They can conflict because both try to handle custom animated textures, so it's usually best to use one or the other. If you keep OptiFine, Animatica may be redundant for those packs.
Does Animatica hurt performance or FPS?
Animated textures add some rendering work, so heavy packs with many animated elements can lower FPS, especially on weaker hardware. If performance drops, try a lighter pack or reduce how many animated textures are active.
Will Animatica work with any resource pack, or only specific ones?
It only affects packs that use the custom animated texture formats it supports, such as those made for OptiFine or MCPatcher. Packs using other or newer formats may not animate even with the mod installed.
The pack loads but nothing animates at all — how do I diagnose it?
Test with a single known-working animated pack and no other packs enabled to rule out conflicts. If that pack animates, the problem is a conflicting pack or an unsupported format in your original pack.
