How to Enable Animated Textures from an OptiFine or MCPatcher Pack in Animatica

Animatica does not animate anything on its own. It is a compatibility layer that lets resource packs written for OptiFine or MCPatcher load their animated textures in a vanilla-style game. So the first thing to understand is that you need a pack that actually contains those animations.

Check the pack before you blame the mod

Open the resource pack folder and look inside. OptiFine-style animated textures usually live in a .properties file placed next to the texture it controls, often inside assets/<namespace>/textures/. If the pack has no .properties files and no animation metadata, Animatica has nothing to work with and the textures will stay static.

Load order and pack format

Place the animated pack in your resource packs list and move it above any pack that overrides the same textures. If two packs touch the same file, only the top one wins, and its animation settings are the ones that apply. Also confirm the pack is not disabled for being made for a different pack format — a pack flagged as incompatible may still load, but its custom animation files can be skipped.

Verify in-game

After enabling the pack, reload resources with the in-game reload key rather than restarting if you can. Watch a texture you know should animate — flowing water in a GUI, a blinking menu element, or an animated armor trim. If it moves, Animatica is doing its job. If it does not, the problem is almost always the pack, not the mod.
