Frequently asked questions
How do I actually start playing in VR after installing the mod?
Launch the VR client profile with your headset connected and SteamVR running, then put on the headset — the game should appear in VR automatically. If it launches flat on your monitor instead, check that you selected the VR profile and not the Non-VR (2D) client.
How do I move around and mine in VR?
You physically walk around your room for roomscale movement, and use your motion controllers to swing at blocks to mine and place them. For longer distances you use controller-based locomotion (such as teleport or smooth movement) rather than walking off your play space.
Why can't my non-VR friends see my hands and head moving?
They need the Non-VR (2D) client installed, and on a dedicated server the Forge Extensions server mod must also be present. Without those, VR animations won't be relayed to desktop players.
Do my friends need VR to play with me?
No. Non-VR players can join using the Non-VR (2D) client, which lets them see your head and hand movements while playing normally on a monitor. This works in LAN and server multiplayer.
