How to Let Non-VR Friends See Your VR Movements in Multiplayer

Why Your Friends See a Normal Player

By default, a vanilla or unmodded client only sees a standard player model. To make your head and hand movements visible to others, the people watching you need the Non-VR (2D) client installed. This is the desktop companion that renders VR animations for non-VR players.

LAN and Singleplayer Hosting

If you host a LAN world, install the Non-VR client on the desktop machines that will join. When they connect, they should see your head turning and hands moving as you play. If they still see a static model, confirm both sides are running matching mod versions.

Dedicated Servers

On a dedicated server, animations require the Forge Extensions server mod installed on the server itself, plus the Non-VR client on each desktop player's machine. Without the server-side extension, the server won't relay the animation data.

Verifying It Works

Have a friend watch you wave a controller or turn your head. If their view mirrors your motion, setup is correct. If not, check that the server mod, the Non-VR client, and the VR client are all present and compatible with each other.
