Yes, both regular spiders and cave spiders use the realistic wall and ceiling movement. Cave spiders are the ones you'll notice most in mineshafts, since they can now drop onto you from the ceiling at angles that vanilla spiders never could.
Why do spiders keep dropping on me from the ceiling now?
That's the mod working as intended — spiders can traverse ceilings and reposition vertically, so they can approach from directly above instead of only from walls. Treat every ceiling in a spider area as a possible ambush point and light it up or block it.
Can spiders climb over fences and walls to get into my base?
Spiders can climb most full vertical surfaces, so a plain fence or wall alone won't stop them. Use overhangs, ceilings, or a lip at the top of your walls so there's nothing for them to grab onto and pull themselves over.
