How to Make Spiders Climb Walls Vertically (and Stop Them Looking Wrong)
What the mod changes
With Spiders Mod installed, spiders and cave spiders no longer hug walls in a flat, horizontal pose. Instead they rotate their bodies to match the surface, so a spider on a vertical wall stands upright against it, and a spider on a ceiling hangs beneath it. This is automatic — you do not craft or toggle anything to get the new pose. The change applies to naturally spawned spiders, cave spiders, and any spider you spawn yourself.
Getting the behaviour to show up
1. Find a spider near a solid wall, fence, or overhang. Flat open ground will not demonstrate the effect.
2. Let it path toward the wall. The improved AI makes it steer around corners and obstacles rather than bumping into them, so give it a moment instead of pushing it.
3. Watch the body angle as it transitions from floor to wall — it should tilt from horizontal to vertical smoothly rather than snapping.
4. Test on a ceiling by building a small overhang and luring a spider under it; it should hang inverted.
If it looks wrong
If spiders still appear flat on walls, another mod is likely overriding spider rendering or AI. Remove conflicting mob-behaviour or rendering mods and reload. Also confirm you are looking at a spider or cave spider — other arthropods are unaffected.
