How to Use Spiders Mod to Make Mob Farms and Traps More Effective

Using the new movement

Spiders Mod makes spiders path around obstacles instead of grinding against them, and lets them travel across walls and ceilings. That means you can design funnels that rely on vertical surfaces rather than flat floors. A spider chasing you will follow you up a wall, which lets you guide it into a drop or a collection point.

Building a wall-guided funnel

1. Create a corridor with solid walls on both sides and an open drop at the far end.

2. Stand at the far side so the spider paths toward you. Its improved navigation will keep it moving along the corridor rather than stalling at corners.

3. Because it can climb, angle the corridor walls so the spider is funnelled toward the drop instead of up and over. A lip at the top of each wall prevents it escaping upward.

4. For ceiling routes, build a flat ceiling over the corridor. Spiders will use it as a path, so make sure the ceiling leads to the same drop rather than back out.

Trapping considerations

  • Spiders can leave a floor-only pit by climbing the walls, so line pit walls with a surface they cannot grip, or cap the pit.
  • Cave spiders behave the same way, so the same funnel design works for both.
  • Always test with one spider before scaling the design up, since a single escape route ruins the whole farm.
