How to Survive Spider Attacks With Realistic Climbing Enabled
What changes in combat
Spiders Mod makes spiders far more mobile in a fight. They will climb the wall next to you, cross the ceiling above you, and drop or approach from angles you are not watching. The old habit of backing into a corner no longer works, because a corner gives them two climbable surfaces.
Practical survival steps
1. Fight in open, flat ground when possible. Fewer climbable surfaces means fewer approach angles.
2. Never stand directly under a ceiling or overhang during a fight — that is now a valid attack route.
3. Keep your back to a wall only if that wall is short enough that the spider cannot get above you. Otherwise retreat to open space.
4. Watch upward as well as forward. Glancing at the ceiling before engaging prevents surprise drops.
5. Use doorways and low tunnels to your advantage. A tunnel with a low ceiling limits how a spider can manoeuvre, channelling it into a straight approach you can hit.
Cave spider notes
Cave spiders use the same climbing behaviour, which makes mineshaft corridors more dangerous than before. Block off side passages so they cannot circle above you, and clear ceilings of spider-sized ledges before mining further.
If you are overwhelmed
Retreat to a lit, open area with a solid floor and no overhangs. Spiders lose most of their advantage when there is nothing to climb.
