How to Build a Spider-Proof Base With Spiders Mod Installed

Why normal defences fail

Because spiders now climb walls and ceilings properly, the classic "just make the wall two blocks high" trick is weaker than you remember. A spider can scale a vertical surface and then walk upside down across a ceiling, so an overhang alone will not stop it — it will simply crawl under and along it.

Steps to seal a base

1. Replace any overhanging lip with a full roof that connects flush to the walls. Gaps between wall top and roof are climb-through points.

2. Line the outside of walls with a non-climbable surface. Spiders need a solid block face to grip, so break up continuous flat walls with protruding blocks, fences, or gaps they cannot path across.

3. Cover ceiling edges. Since spiders can traverse ceilings, any exposed underside of your roof near an entrance is a route in. Box in doorways with a short tunnel so there is no ceiling run straight to the interior.

4. Light the interior thoroughly. Spiders spawn in darkness, so removing dark pockets inside removes the spawn attempt entirely.

5. Test by spawning a spider outside and watching its path. If it reaches your door, find the surface it used and block that specific route.

Quick checklist

  • No flush overhangs
  • No continuous flat exterior wall
  • No exposed ceiling leading indoors
  • Interior fully lit
