How to Use the Chisel to Convert Blocks in Rechiseled
The Chisel is the core tool of Rechiseled. It lets you cycle a single vanilla block through every decorative variant the mod adds for that block type, so you never need a separate crafting recipe for each look.
Basic Chisel Workflow
1. Place the block you want to restyle in the world, or hold the matching block in your inventory.
2. Hold the Chisel in your main hand.
3. Right-click the placed block (or the block in your hotbar, depending on how you are using it) to cycle through available variants.
4. Keep right-clicking to advance to the next pattern. Shift-right-click or use the opposite mouse action to step backward through the list if you overshoot.
5. Stop when the block shows the texture you want. The block keeps its original material identity, so it still behaves like the base block for building purposes.
What You Can Chisel
Any block that Rechiseled supports can be converted this way. That includes planks, bricks, pillars, mosaics, crates, barrels, bookshelves, and trapdoors. If a block has no variants, the Chisel simply does nothing to it.
Practical Tips
- Carry one Chisel and a stack of the base block instead of crafting dozens of decorative variants.
- Chisel before you build, not after, so you do not have to re-place blocks.
- Use the Chisel on already-placed blocks to fix a pattern you do not like without breaking anything.
