Gather obsidian blocks from the Nether or your world, then combine them in a crafting table to create Obsidian Gems—these are the foundation for all obsidian tools and armor. Once you have gems, you can craft basic obsidian tools or begin working toward armor pieces.

Use the data pack's survival recipe to craft Crying Obsidian directly in a crafting table rather than searching for it naturally. This lets you gather the material you need without relying on rare spawns.

Defeat a Warden to obtain a Warden's Heart (50% drop rate), then use a smithing table to combine your Netherite Chestplate with the Warden's Heart and an Obsidian Gem. This creates the Dark Chestplate, the mod's endgame armor piece.

While wearing it, sneak to release a special dark area attack that damages nearby enemies. This active ability makes it powerful for combat situations where you need crowd control.
