How to Craft Your First Obsidian Gem

Gathering Obsidian Blocks

Obsidian Gems are the foundation of all obsidian gear in this mod. Start by collecting obsidian blocks from the Nether or by mining them in the Overworld with a diamond or netherite pickaxe. You'll need multiple blocks depending on your crafting goals.

Crafting at the Table

Open your crafting table and place obsidian blocks in the grid according to the mod's recipe. The exact arrangement matters—check your crafting table preview to ensure you have the right pattern. Once arranged correctly, the Obsidian Gem will appear in the output slot.

Using Your Gems

Obsidian Gems serve as core ingredients for weapons, tools, and armor pieces. Store extras in a chest since you'll need multiple gems for full gear sets. These gems are also used as tool handles, making them essential for any obsidian equipment you plan to craft.

Tip: Mine obsidian efficiently by bringing a diamond pickaxe to the Nether. Obsidian blocks are common near lava lakes and around Nether portals, making bulk gathering relatively quick once you know where to look.
