Vanilla game chat only saves the last 100 messages from players. More Chat History Mod fixes that oversight! The chat history will be increased to up to 16,384 messages, so you definitely won’t miss any messages from the chat, even if you’ve been AFK for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn on the extended chat history?

The mod extends your chat history automatically once it's installed — there's no toggle or config option to enable. Just launch the game and your chat will retain far more messages than vanilla's default.

How far back can I scroll in chat now?

You can scroll back through up to 16,384 messages, compared to vanilla's limit of 100. Use the mouse scroll wheel or Page Up/Page Down while the chat is open to move through older messages.

Why does my chat still only show 100 messages?

This usually means the mod isn't actually loading — check that it's in your mods folder and matches your game version. If you're on a server, some server-side chat plugins can also interfere with client-side history.

Does this mod work on servers or only singleplayer?

It works on both, since the history is stored client-side. You'll keep the extended history on any server you join, as long as the mod is installed on your client.
