How to Scroll Through and Search Old Chat Messages

Scrolling the Chatbox

With More Chat History Mod installed, the chat screen behaves like a scrollable log rather than a short ticker.

1. Open chat with your chat key.

2. Scroll up with the mouse wheel or page-up. The further you scroll, the older the messages you reveal.

3. Scroll back down with the wheel or page-down to return to the newest messages.

4. Close chat with Escape — the view resets to the bottom next time you open it.

Finding a Specific Message

The mod does not add a search box, so locating one line in a very long history is manual. A few habits make it easier:

• Note roughly when the message arrived (before or after a death, a trade, a boss fight) so you know how far to scroll.
• Scroll in larger jumps first, then fine-tune with the wheel once you're in the right region.
• If you only need the latest few lines, don't scroll at all — the newest messages are always at the bottom.

Limits to Expect

Even with the expanded buffer, extremely long sessions on very busy servers can eventually push the oldest messages out. Treat the history as a long session log, not an archive.
