How to Use JourneyMap on a Multiplayer Server
What works on servers
JourneyMap runs on multiplayer servers and maps the world as you personally explore it. The map is stored on your own computer, so it is your private record of where you have been — other players do not see it unless you share it. This makes it invaluable on survival servers where getting lost far from spawn is a real risk.
Caveats to expect
- The map only shows chunks you have visited. Areas other players explored will stay blank on your map until you go there yourself.
- Some servers restrict certain features, such as entity radar or cave mapping, to prevent cheating. If a feature seems missing, the server may have disabled it.
- On servers with anti-cheat plugins, keep to the allowed features. Using radar to track other players when the server forbids it can get you punished.
Getting the most out of it
Create waypoints for your base, the server spawn, and any shared farms or shops you use. Use the coordinate readout to share locations with friends in chat. If you play on a server with a web map, you can still keep JourneyMap for your own local view. Remember to back up your JourneyMap data folder occasionally so a reinstall does not wipe your explored map.
