How do I get guards to spawn in my village?

Guards spawn naturally in villages over time, and their spawn rate is controlled by the mod's configuration. If none are appearing, check that the config option for natural spawning is enabled and that your village has valid spawnable space.

How do I spawn a guard with a spawn egg?

Use the

Guard Spawn Egg on a block to place a guard directly, just like any other spawn egg. The egg is available in the creative inventory or via commands if you have cheats enabled.

Do guards need a village to work, or can I place them anywhere?

Guards can be spawned anywhere with a spawn egg, but they defend most reliably when they have a village or a designated area to patrol. Placing them near beds and workstations helps them treat the spot as a settlement.

Why aren't my guards attacking hostile mobs?

Guards only engage threats within their detection range, so mobs attacking from far away may be ignored. Make sure the guard isn't stuck behind walls or fences, and check the config for any behavior toggles that affect targeting.
