Do I need to do anything to enable heads dropping when players die?
No, the datapack works automatically once installed—heads will drop at the death location without any configuration needed. Just make sure the datapack is loaded in your world.
What happens if a player changes their skin after their head drops?
The dropped head keeps the skin appearance from the moment the player died and will not update to reflect any new skins they apply later. This is intentional, making each dropped head a snapshot of that player's appearance at death.
