Finding the Dropped Head

When a player dies, their head drops as an item at the exact location of death. If you weren't present, you'll need to navigate to the death site to retrieve it.

Locating the Death Site

Use the death message in chat to identify where the player died. If the coordinates aren't clear, ask the deceased player or check your world's death markers if you use a mod that tracks them. Travel to that location and search the ground for the head item.

Collecting Before Despawn

Like all dropped items in Minecraft, heads will despawn after 5 minutes if not picked up. Prioritize reaching the death location quickly to prevent loss. If you arrive too late, the head is permanently gone and cannot be recovered.

Preventing Future Loss

Consider establishing a rule where players immediately return to their death site or alert others so someone can secure the head. Alternatively, keep the area well-lit and monitored to spot dropped heads before they despawn.
