How to Use the Feral Flare Lantern for Wide-Area Mob Control

The Feral Flare Lantern is the TorchMaster light built for covering large outdoor spaces — farms, courtyards, mob-proof perimeters, and big builds where a single torch would not reach far enough.

What Makes It Different

All three TorchMaster lights suppress hostile spawning, but the Feral Flare Lantern is the one you reach for when you need broad coverage. It is the tool for lighting up a whole field or wall line rather than a single room. Check JEI/REI for its exact recipe in your version; like the others, it is built around the Frozen Pearl.

Covering a Perimeter

If your goal is to keep mobs out of a walled area, place Feral Flare Lanterns in a rough grid rather than clustering them. Space them so their suppression zones just overlap. Walk the perimeter and look for dark gaps between zones — those gaps are where mobs will appear. Add a lantern to close each gap.

Lighting Farms and Villages

For an iron farm, villager breeder, or crop field, place a Feral Flare Lantern at the center and check the corners. If the corners still spawn mobs at night, the field is wider than one lantern covers — add a second one offset from the first.

Combining with Other TorchMaster Lights

You do not have to pick one type. A common setup is a Mega Torch or Dread Lamp at the heart of your base and Feral Flare Lanterns spread across the outer grounds. Use the smaller, decorative lights indoors and the wide-coverage lanterns outside where appearance matters less.
