TorchMaster Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I get started with TorchMaster?
Craft a Mega Torch first, since it's the simplest light source that blocks hostile spawns. Place it down and right-click it to open its config screen, where you can toggle the spawn-blocking on or off and see its working radius.
How do I turn a Mega Torch, Dread Lamp, or Feral Flare Lantern on and off?
Right-click the placed block to open its GUI. From there you can toggle whether it prevents hostile mob spawning, and the change applies immediately.
Does the Mega Torch stop mobs spawning in caves below my base?
It blocks hostile spawning in a spherical area centered on the torch, so it does reach downward into caves within that radius. If your base sits above deep caves, place additional torches lower down to cover them.
What's the difference between the Mega Torch, Dread Lamp, and Feral Flare Lantern?
All three prevent hostile mob spawning over an area, but they differ in appearance, coverage shape, and how they're crafted. The Mega Torch is the basic option, the Dread Lamp is the more decorative/compact choice, and the Feral Flare Lantern is meant for wide-area control.
Why are mobs still spawning near my Mega Torch?
Check that the torch is actually enabled in its GUI, and remember that it only blocks natural hostile spawns — mobs spawned by spawners, eggs, or events still appear. Also make sure the spawn area is inside the torch's radius, not just near it.
Do these blocks stop mob spawners from working?
No. Spawners, spawn eggs, and scripted/event spawns ignore the spawn-blocking effect. Only natural hostile mob spawning is prevented.
How do I get Frozen Pearls and what are they for?
Frozen Pearls are a crafting ingredient used in TorchMaster recipes, including the Dread Lamp and Feral Flare Lantern. You obtain them through the mod's own crafting or processing chain rather than from vanilla mobs.
Can I use TorchMaster alongside other mob-control mods?
Yes, it's generally compatible with other mods since it only suppresses natural hostile spawning in its radius. If another mod forces spawns through its own logic, those spawns may still occur.
Does TorchMaster hurt performance if I place a lot of them?
Each active light source checks its area for spawn attempts, so placing many of them in one area can add up. Keep coverage efficient by spacing them to cover your base rather than stacking them.
Can I move or pick up a placed Mega Torch, Dread Lamp, or Feral Flare Lantern?
Yes, break the block with any tool and it drops as an item you can place again. Its on/off setting resets when replaced, so re-check the GUI after moving it.
