How to Get Frozen Pearls and What They Are Used For

Every TorchMaster light traces back to one item: the Frozen Pearl. If you cannot find one in the world, that is because you are not supposed to — you craft it.

Crafting a Frozen Pearl

The Frozen Pearl is made by combining an Ender Pearl with ice or snow in a crafting grid. The exact layout varies by version, so open JEI/REI and search "Frozen Pearl" to see the recipe your pack uses. You will need a steady supply of Ender Pearls, which means either killing Endermen or running an Enderman farm, plus a source of ice or snow.

Gathering Ice and Snow

The easiest source is a snowy biome: mine ice blocks with a silk touch pickaxe so they do not turn into water, or shovel snow layers. If you have no snowy biome nearby, you can freeze water in a cold biome or use a mod-added cooling method if your pack has one. Keep a small stockpile — you will need multiple Frozen Pearls if you plan to craft several lights.

What Frozen Pearls Are For

Frozen Pearls are the shared ingredient in the Mega Torch, Dread Lamp, and Feral Flare Lantern. Because all three lights need them, your Ender Pearl supply is the real bottleneck when you want to mob-proof a large base. Plan ahead: craft a batch of Frozen Pearls before you start building lights, and keep a few spare in a chest near your crafting area so you are not running back to an Enderman farm every time you want one more lantern.
