How to Set Up a Storage Controller and Storage I/O for a Networked Base

Placing the Controller

A Storage Controller lets you access every connected Sophisticated Storage block from one interface. Place the controller, then place chests, barrels, or shulker boxes adjacent to it or connected via Storage Connectors. Each connector type (Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia, Dark Oak, Mangrove, Cherry, Bamboo, Crimson, Pale Oak) matches a wood variant and is used to link blocks that are not directly touching the controller.

Wiring Storage I/O

Storage I/O blocks act as input and output points for your network. Place a Storage I/O next to a controller or connector and configure it to either pull items in or push items out. Use the configuration screen to set which slots or filters apply.

1. Place the Storage Controller in a central location.

2. Ring it with chests or barrels, or run Storage Connectors to remote storage rooms.

3. Add Storage I/O blocks where you want automation to insert or extract items.

4. Open the controller to see all connected inventories in one view.

This setup is the backbone of a sorted base — you deposit items at one I/O point and retrieve them from the controller without walking between chests.
