How to Extend Your Reach and Automate Pickups with Magnet and Pickup Upgrades

Magnet vs Pickup Upgrades

Both the Magnet and Pickup upgrades pull items into a container, but they behave differently. The Magnet Upgrade attracts dropped items toward the block or player from a distance. The Pickup Upgrade collects items that land near the container. Advanced versions of each have a larger effective range than the Basic versions.

Setting Up an Auto-Collect Chest

1. Place a chest or barrel where you want items to gather.

2. Open it and insert a Magnet Upgrade or Pickup Upgrade into an upgrade slot.

3. If you want to limit what gets collected, add a Filter Upgrade and configure it to whitelist or blacklist specific items.

4. Stand near the chest while mining or fighting — dropped items will fly into it automatically.

Extending Reach Further

If you want items to come to you rather than to a chest, the Magnet Upgrade installed in a container you carry (a shulker box) or placed nearby will pull drops toward it. Combine an Advanced Magnet with an Advanced Pickup for the widest coverage. For bases with many collection points, place several chests with Pickup Upgrades around your farm or mob grinder so nothing is missed. Remember that filters apply before pickup, so a Void Upgrade paired with a filter can discard unwanted drops on arrival.
