What You Get From Randomite Ore and How the Random Drop Works
The entire point of Randomite is that breaking it gives you a random resource instead of a fixed drop. Understanding the mechanic helps you decide when it is worth the trip.
The Random Drop Mechanic
When you successfully mine a Randomite Ore or Deepslate Randomite Ore block, the game rolls a random result and gives you that item (or items) instead of the block itself. The pool is meant to be a mix of useful vanilla-style resources, so each block is a small gamble. You cannot predict the outcome from the block's appearance — two identical ore blocks can give completely different loot.
What This Means in Practice
- Fortune and Silk Touch behave differently: Silk Touch lets you keep the ore block itself so you can break it later, while Fortune can improve the quantity of whatever random drop you roll.
- Because the reward is random, mining a large batch at once smooths out the variance — a single block might disappoint, but a full inventory run usually pays off.
- Store your haul before gambling further so a bad streak never costs you gear.
Getting the Most Value
Mine in bulk, use Silk Touch if you want to stockpile blocks and break them on demand, and keep a chest near your mining base to sort the random results as they come in.
