Frequently asked questions

How do I use FTB Essentials commands on my server?

FTB Essentials commands work from chat like any other command, but most require the right permission node or operator status. If a command returns an error about permissions, ask your server admin to grant you access through your permissions plugin or op you.

Why does /nick say I don't have permission?

Nickname changes are gated behind a permission node, so regular players may be blocked by default. Your server admin needs to allow the /nick permission for your rank or group before it will work.

How do I change my nickname in chat?

Type /nick followed by the name you want, and your chat messages will show that name instead of your username. Some servers restrict colors or formatting in nicknames, so keep it plain if a styled name gets rejected.

How do I put an item on my head with /hat?

Hold the item you want to wear in your main hand and run /hat. The item moves into your helmet slot, and running /hat again with an empty hand swaps it back.
