How to Survive the Redesigned Dungeon Rooms
Understand the New Layout
Better Dungeons breaks the single-room vanilla dungeon into a multi-room complex. Rooms connect through corridors, and each room may hold its own spawner, loot, or hazard. Because rooms are linked, clearing one can aggro mobs from the next, so treat the whole complex as one fight rather than isolated encounters.
Room-by-Room Tactics
Clear corridors first and light them so nothing sneaks up behind you. When you reach a spawner room, block the doorway with a temporary wall, leave a one-block gap, and fight mobs through the gap so only one can reach you at a time. Break the spawner with a pickaxe once the room is quiet. For rooms with pits or drop-offs, place blocks across the opening before crossing. If a room has multiple exits, seal the ones you are not using so you control the flow of mobs.
Managing Spawners and Mobs
Spawners are the core threat. Locate each one by its sound and particle effects, then approach from an angle where you can break it quickly. Bring a pickaxe with good durability because you may break several per dungeon. If a room spawns mobs faster than you can kill them, retreat to a cleared corridor, funnel them, and thin them out before returning. Never fight in the open center of a room when a doorway is available.
