How to Filter Which Items an Item Translocator Moves

Why Filter

By default an Item Translocator moves everything it can. If you're feeding a furnace, a sorting system, or a specific machine, you usually want only certain items to pass. The translocator's interface includes filter slots for exactly this.

Setting Up a Filter

Open the Item Translocator's GUI by right-clicking it. Place the item you want to allow (or block, depending on the mode) into a filter slot. You can typically set the filter to act as a whitelist (only listed items move) or a blacklist (listed items are blocked).

  • Put a sample of each item you care about into the filter slots.
  • Choose whitelist mode to allow only those items through.
  • Choose blacklist mode to let everything *except* those items pass.

Combining With Redstone

Filters pair well with redstone control. If you want the filter to only apply while a signal is active, enable redstone mode and run a lever or redstone dust to the translocator. This lets you build conditional sorting: for example, only route ores when a hopper below is empty. Test by inserting a mix of allowed and blocked items and confirming only the correct ones cross.
