How to Use Sacrifices to Power Advanced Runes
What Sacrifices Do
Certain runes require a sacrifice to activate. A sacrifice is an item or entity placed on or near the rune before you trigger it. The mod consumes the sacrifice and uses it as fuel for the spell. Without the correct sacrifice, the rune either fails silently or produces a weaker effect.
Setting Up the Sacrifice
Place the required item on the ground inside the rune's area, or lure the required mob onto the pattern. Step on the trigger point to activate. If the rune accepts the sacrifice, you see a visual effect and the spell fires. If nothing happens, check that the item is the correct type and that it is positioned on the right pixel of the pattern.
Advanced runes often need rare or dangerous sacrifices, so plan ahead. Build a containment area around the rune if the sacrifice is a hostile mob, otherwise it wanders off before you can trigger the spell. For item sacrifices, use a hopper or dropper to feed them automatically if you plan to cast repeatedly. Always test a new sacrifice rune in a safe location, because a failed activation can waste expensive materials.
