Frequently asked questions

How do I make my first food container?
Craft a paper bag, lunch box, or picnic basket using the recipe for your chosen container type—check your enabled containers in the mod config first. Once crafted, place it in your inventory and right-click to open it, then drag food items inside to start storing multiple foods in one slot.
Why does my food heal less when I eat the same thing repeatedly?
This is diet fatigue: the mod tracks your last 20 meals and reduces nutrition value for foods you eat too often. Eat a variety of different foods to maintain full healing; the more diverse your diet, the better your nutrition.
Can I eat directly from a food container without opening it?
Yes, right-click the container in your hand or inventory to eat from it directly. The mod will consume food from inside the container and apply any diet fatigue penalties based on your recent meal history.
What does the Food UI show me?
The Food UI tracks which foods you've eaten and which you haven't, displays your current nutrition level, and helps you plan a diverse diet to avoid diet fatigue. Open it to see at a glance what new foods you should try.
How do I enable or disable different container types?
Open the mod's configuration file and toggle the settings for paper bag, lunch box, and picnic basket to enable only the containers you want to use. Restart your game or reload the config for changes to take effect.
Do food containers work in multiplayer?
Yes, food containers and diet fatigue tracking work in multiplayer servers, though diet fatigue is tracked per player individually so each player maintains their own meal history.
What happens if I drop a food container—do I lose the food inside?
No, dropping a food container on the ground preserves all the food stored inside it. You can pick it back up and the contents will remain intact.
Can I stack multiple food containers in my inventory?
Yes, you can carry multiple different food containers at once, and each one stores its own set of foods. This lets you organize different food types across multiple containers if you prefer.
Does this mod affect food from other mods?
Yes, foods from other mods are subject to diet fatigue and can be stored in containers, though some mod foods may have special properties that interact differently with the nutrition system.
Is there a way to reset my diet fatigue or meal history?
Diet fatigue resets naturally over time as you eat new foods—the mod only considers your last 20 meals, so eating 20 different foods will clear out old repetitive meals from your history.
