Configuring Smarter Farmers for Your Modpack

Where the options live

Smarter Farmers ships with a configuration file that controls how farmers behave. You can edit it directly or, on some loaders, through an in-game config screen. The options generally cover which crops are affected and how strictly the mod matches seeds to crops.

Key things to adjust

1. Crop whitelist or blacklist: if a modded crop is causing lag or weird behaviour, exclude it so farmers ignore it.

2. Replant toggle: turn replanting on or off globally if you want farmers to only harvest.

3. Seed matching strictness: looser matching lets farmers replant more modded crops, but may occasionally plant the wrong seed if two mods share similar items.

Applying changes

After editing the config, save the file and reload the world or run the mod's reload command if one is provided. Changes usually apply to newly spawned farmers immediately, but existing farmers may need to be re-employed (break and replace the composter) to pick up new behaviour.

Modpack advice

If you are building a pack, set sensible defaults so players do not have to touch the config. Keep the whitelist focused on crops your pack actually uses, and document any toggles you change so players searching for why a farmer behaves oddly can find the answer.
