Binding a Pet to an Etheric Gem So It Can Be Respawned Later
Why Binding Matters
The Etheric Gem only revives a pet it has already been linked to. Skipping the binding step is the most common reason players think the mod "doesn't work" — they die, use the gem, and nothing happens because the gem was never attuned to that animal.
Step-by-Step Binding
1. Tame the animal you want to protect (the usual taming method for that mob).
2. Hold an Etheric Gem in your main hand.
3. Right-click the tamed pet. The gem becomes bound to it.
4. Store the bound gem somewhere safe.
You can repeat this for multiple pets, but each gem holds one binding. If you right-click a different pet with an already-bound gem, you may overwrite the previous link, so use a fresh gem per animal.
What Carries Over
A bound gem remembers the pet, so when you revive it the animal returns as your tamed companion rather than a wild mob. Names, if you gave the pet one, are part of that tamed data. Treat the gem as the pet's backup — losing the gem means losing the ability to bring that specific pet back, so don't leave bound gems in unloaded or dangerous areas.
