Avoiding Common Etheric Gem Mistakes
Mistake 1: Using an Unbound Gem
An Etheric Gem that was never right-clicked onto a living tamed pet has nothing to revive. Always bind first, then store the gem. If you're unsure whether a gem is bound, test it on a throwaway pet before relying on it for a favorite.
Mistake 2: One Gem, Many Pets
Each gem links to a single animal. Reusing one gem across several pets overwrites the earlier binding, silently removing your ability to revive the first pet. Craft or collect enough gems to cover every pet you want protected.
Mistake 3: Losing the Gem
A bound gem is the only key to that pet's revival. Don't carry bound gems into risky fights, don't leave them in chunks that might not save, and don't drop them near lava or the void. Keep backups in a chest at your base.
Mistake 4: Expecting Gear Back
Revival returns the pet, not its armor or held items. Collect drops separately and re-equip them.
Mistake 5: Forgetting to Rebind After a Revival
After a pet is revived, confirm the gem is still linked before your next dangerous trip. Re-bind if needed so the pet stays protected for future deaths.
